Blu-ray Disc format finalized
The Blu-ray Disc physical specifications were ended in 2004. In January 2005, TDK announced they have developed a polymer for Blu-ray Disc. It is no longer necessary because that the cartridges were abandoned. Finally, BD-ROM standard specifications were finalized in early 2006. AACS LA, a league founded in 2004, developed a digital rights management platform can be used to secure the distribution of movies to consumers. However, the final AACS standard was delayed. And then, an important member of the Blu-ray Disc group voiced concerns was delayed again.
At the request of the initial hardware manufacturers, including Toshiba, Pioneer and Samsung, an interim standard was published not including some features, like managed copy.
Both the single and dual layer Blu-ray Disc specifications have been approved. Pioneer released the first batch of Blu-ray player at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It is to save in order to deliver 1920p and 1080p output, which is the highest of the three high-definition radio signals. Similarly, Philips announced the disc burner called TripleWriter which supports both BD-R and BD-RE, single-layer and double-layer recording function.
Blu-ray movies will be in the market soon, which format includes "Four Brothers", "Sahara", "The Italian Job", "Tomb Raider" and "Mission Impossible", as well as "Mission Impossible 2" and "Mission Impossible 3". The storage space on a single-layer Blu-ray disc is 25GB, and 50GB for the dual-layer disc.
